From the land of the British Racing Green…
Our Story Discover
Owner Sandy Thomson’s interest in British Sports cars began 37 years ago with the purchase of his first Triumph, a 1970 GT6+ while attending school in Toronto, Canada. This purchase coincided with the end of the British Leyland Motor company in 1980. With the closure of Triumph dealerships and a student budget, Thomson quickly learned the mechanics of his red, two seater “LBC “. Since that time, Thomson has owned and restored numerous Triumphs and has become known for his knowledge and expertise in repairs and restoration.
Over the years, Sandy, his wife Jo Anne, and their three sons, Rob, Jonathan and Scott, have attended and participated in many local, national and international British car events. Examples of these events include: Capital Triumph Register events, including Britain on the Green, MG Hunt Country Classic, the annual Triumph Roadster Factory Summer Party, Vintage Triumph Register Conventions, and British Motoring Festival of Nova Scotia, Canada to name a few. The boys grew up around Triumphs, enjoying driving in them and helping their Dad work on the cars.
Sandy has passed his love for British cars to his three sons. At the age of 13, each son received their own Triumph “restoration” car. The boys were able to restore their cars as a father/son project and each completed their car in time for them to drive it their senior year of high school. Rob has a 1973 red TR6, Jonathan a white 1973 TR6 and Scott a 1970 GT6+.

CMM AACA Student Chapter
The Alvis Project
Coventry Motor Works is pleased to be restoring the 1938 Alvis Drophead Coupe, a project of the St Michael’s Classic Motor Museum (CMM) and the Bay Country Region of the AACA Student Chapter. Early in 2018, Coventry Motor Works met with CMM to discuss how the 1938 Alvis would continue to serve as a catalyst to engage the students. The idea of the project caught our interest and not long after, the Alvis found a new home at Coventry Motor Works.
